Google Flights helps you buy. Fareward works after you book.
Google Flights price tracking alerts you before you book. Its Price Guarantee pays the difference only on flights with the Price Guarantee badge, up to $500 per Google account per calendar year (Google's terms). Fareward starts from the flight you already booked on American, Alaska, Hawaiian, Delta, United, or Southwest and files the claim with the airline for you. The fee is 20% only after a credit lands.
Use both: Google Flights to pick and buy, Fareward after you book to watch the fare and file if it drops.
